| Robert J. Malone - Executive Director
Jay became the HSS's first executive director when he was hired in 1998. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Florida; his dissertation focused on the planter/naturalist William Dunbar. His work examines science in the Old Southwest (lower Mississippi River Valley) and he teaches as a visiting professor at Florida. He represents the HSS in various sister societies, such as the American Council of Learned Societies, and serves on numerous committees. He is married to the beautiful and talented Rebecca Malone, has three beautiful and talented children, and also has a terrier named Henry who, albeit neither beautiful nor talented, is loyal and strong. jay@hssonline.org |

Dana Just received her Master's degree in the history of science at the University of Florida. | Michal Meyer - Graduate Assistant
Michal grew up in Israel, Australia, and New Zealand. She started out in physics and gradually moved to history by way of weather forecasting and journalism. She is in the Ph.D. program in the history of science at the University of Florida. | Adrian Morse - Graduate Assistant
Adrian is a second-year graduate student at the University of Florida. He hails from the great Garden State of New Jersey where he completed a bachelor's degree at Rutgers University in History and Anthropology, with a particular concentration on colonial encounters and associated environmental implications. At Florida, Adrian is pursuing a Ph.D. with a focus on the History of Zoology, although he remains especially interested in ecological and colonial history. He shares an apartment with over seventy fish, two turtles, two guinea pigs, and numerous fresh and saltwater invertebrates. adrian@hssonline.org | ||
| David Tostenson - Graduate Assistant
David N. Tostenson is a second year Philosophy PhD. Student at the University of Florida. He received an MA in philosophy from Northern Illinois University. His academic interest is in philosophy of mind, specifically, the problems of qualia and intentionality and how those two phenomena relate. | Allison Riggs - Graduate Assistant
Allison Riggs is a second year doctoral student studying the history of science. Her areas of interest include botany in the British Empire and the history of plant pathology.
