EUR's Department of Philosophy and Erasmus Institute for Philosophy and Economics in collaboration with Harold Kincaid (University of Alabama at Birmingham), Miriam Solomon (Temple University) and David Teira (UNED, Madrid) are organizing a conference on issues in the philosophy of medicine where a premium will be put on time for discussion and interaction. The conference continues a series of philosophy of medicine meetings at UAB in 2006 and 2008. Papers on topics in the philosophy, history, and social studies of science as applied to medicine are invited as well as papers on normative issues such as public policy but not papers on traditional issues in bioethics.
Invited speakers include Daniel Hausman (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Raffaella Campaner (University of Bologna) and Jan Vandenbroucke (Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences and University of Leiden).
Please send an abstract of no more than 400 words to eipe-events'at'fwb.eur.nl before 15 July 2009.
The Philosophy of Medicine Roundtable is immediately followed by the conference of the European Philosophy of Science Association in Amsterdam, 21-24 October 2009. |
