Hotel Information
The 2008 HSS conference will be held 6-9 November at the Omni William Penn hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. The hotel address is 530 William Penn Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 (or call 1-800-843-6664 or 412-281-7100).
Due to a remarkable response, our conference hotel, the Omni William Penn, has sold out. We are negotiating with two hotels for overflow space: the Doubletree, located directly behind the Omni (about a 2-minute walk), and the slightly more elegant Westin, which is down the street from the Omni (about a 5-minute walk). The DoubleTree has agreed to match our conference rate of $125 US, excluding taxes (14%) but we must fill our block of rooms so please try the DoubleTree first. The Westin rate is $189 US plus taxes.
Doubletree: The code for online reservations is "HSS." Make a reservation by first entering in the date to the right side of the screen. It will then take you to the reservation screen where there is a space that will ask you the group code – enter in "HSS" and go from there to make your reservations. Note: most of the hotel rooms that are available have just a single queen bed available. However, for two or more guests in a room, there are a limited number of queen suites, with a sofa pullout bed in a separate room, that are available. Queen single rooms cannot accommodate a roll-away bed. If you call the hotel directly, you may be able to book a room with two double beds. The number is 1.412.281.5800. The group rate of $125 is no longer available due to the full booking of our room block.
Westin: There is no code for reservations. The group rate of $189 is available only until 15 October.
Important: We have been informed that a major football game will be played at Pittsburgh during the conference period. This will significantly reduce the number of hotel rooms available in the city. Book early!
