WELCOME TO SAN DIEGO!
The 2012 History of Science Society meeting will be held on November 15-18, 2012 at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina. We will be meeting jointly with the Philosophy of Science Association.

Joint Meeting with the Philosophy of Science Assocation
The History of Science Society's Annual Meeting will be held jointly with the biennial meeting of the Philosophy of Science Association.
The call for papers for the PSA can be found here. Please note that the deadline for contributed paper proposals for the PSA is 1 March 2012. The deadline for symposium proposals has already passed.

In the past, session proposals have been accepted at a much higher rate than contributed papers. We have created a wiki to help scholars find other interested individuals to create session proposals for the Meeting. We encourage you to take a look and post your paper and session ideas.

Rooms for the Meeting are $149/night for single- and double-occupancy. Taxes will bring the nightly total to roughly $168. To receive the conference rate, you must reserve your room no later than 14 October 2012.
There will be a block of rooms reserved for graduate students at a reduced rate of $99/night (roughly $112/night after taxes). These rooms can only be reserved by HSS or PSA student members until 31 August. They will be available to any graduate students beginning on 1 September. More details on the graduate student rooms will be posted here as it becomes available.

Traveling to San Diego
Planes
San Diego is served by San Diego International Airport (SAN), which is less than a mile from the meeting hotel.
Trains
The San Diego train station is serviced by Amtrak. The station is about 2.5 miles from the meeting hotel.
Automobiles
San Diego can be reached via Interstates 5, 8, or 15.
Publisher and Book Exhibitor Information
The book exhibit will be hosted at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina. The publisher's brochure, which includes information regarding book exhibits, packet inserts and advertising can be downloaded here. Please email info@hssonline.org with any inquiries.
Exhibitors can also get a discount for exhibiting at both the 3-Society Meeting in Philadelphia in July and the HSS/PSA Meeting in San Diego in November. See the publisher's brochure for more details.
Travel Grants from the National Science Foundation
As in past years, the History of Science Society has received a grant from the National Science Foundation to help fund travel to meeting participants who are graduate students, independent scholars or recent PhDs. These grants can be used for travel to and from the meeting as well as registration costs. Unlike in past years, only U.S. citizens and individuals at U.S. institutions are eligible. Online applications will be accepted after the preliminary program has been announced.
